Kastro

This is the castle of Agios Georgios (Saint George) and is a ruined castle located in a prominent position on top of a hill about 8 km south of Argostoli. You can reach the top of the hill by car. The castle was the capital and administrative center of the island until 1757. After Argostoli became the capital, the castle fell into disrepair. There are 3 nice restaurants/cafes (The Olive Lounge, To Castro and Il Borgo).

Drogarati Caves

The cave has been open to tourists since 1963 and is 40 km deep. There is 1 large cave, which has hosted concerts and operas thanks to its acoustics. There is an entrance fee.

Melissani Lake

This is another cave system, but it is unique because part of the roof has collapsed and the sunlight creates incredible colors in the blue water. Access is via steps and a long tunnel, at the end of which you will be met by a boatman who will take you around the stunning water in a boat and may even sing to you. There is an entrance fee.
